The Royal Oak reference 25594 is a direct descendant of the iconic Royal Oak Day Date 5572, which was originally introduced in 1983. Though developed simultaneously, Model 25594 was unveiled a year later with an added moon-phase aperture, enhancing its dial with exceptional aesthetic balance.

The model quickly gained popularity, selling 333 units in 1984 and over 600 the following year. However, what truly sets this Royal Oak apart is its extraordinary longevity. It remained in the catalogue for more than two decades, from 1985 to 2006, making it the only Royal Oak model to achieve this milestone.

Throughout a 25-year span, the catalogues featured fewer than 10 dial variations, encompassing all available materials. While the steel variants constitute more than half of the production of the Royal Oak Day Date Moon Phase 25594 model, their commercial success experienced ups and downs. After a relatively slow period of sales in the 1980s, the 1990s witnessed a more dynamic market, and it was in the 21st century that the model consistently exceeded 200 watches sold per year. This resurgence was particularly influenced by the introduction of new dial variations, such as the "Dark Blue" and the "Cosmos Blue," starting from the year 2000.
