Patek Philippe's World Timers, a popular watch complication, have a rich history of nearly 80 years. Louis Cottier, a renowned watchmaker, played a crucial role in their development. In the 1930s, Cottier created mechanisms that displayed the time across 24 time zones on a single dial. His innovative work extended to prestigious clients like Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Rolex. In 1950, Cottier introduced the first World Timer with two crowns, allowing to change the reference city while traveling. This practical feature inspired Patek Philippe's iconic 2523 series, produced from 1953 onward.
In 2000, Patek Philippe brought back World Time watches with the launch of the reference 5110. This model was followed by the 5130 in 2006, and the current version is the Patek Philippe 5230. This 5230G-014 is the successor of the 5230G-001 and is also known as the Beijing Edition. This reference was released in 2016 and is discontinued in 2022. Only a small edition of the 5230G-014 was produced.
The central dial showcases a stunning hand-guilloche pattern. The case, available in either 18k pink gold or 18k white gold, has dimensions of 38.5mm in diameter and 10.23mm in thickness. It features a sapphire crystal on both the front and back, and the watch is water-resistant up to 30 meters. Powering the watch is the 240HU movement, an in-house automatic winding mechanism with a 48-hour power reserve.
